Jinju city, known for being a river city with a thousand years of history, recently enacted the ‘Ordinance of Jinju city on the Creation of Aging-Friendly Cities’ in May 2022 and formed the Jinju city ‘Aging-Friendly City Creation Committee’ in December 2022 to wisely cope with the global phenomenon of a rapidly ageing society.

With the vision of realizing Jinju as a city where tolerance and generosity coexist, Jinju city will carry out the project with this goal in mind: Enhancing Jinju as a city where we want to stay happy and healthy in older age.

To achieve the goal, we will establish 2 key strategies and 5 detailed strategies to promote a total of 56 projects over the next three years.

Jinju city is a member city through membership of the WHO’s aging-friendly city global network, and it will work together to solve social and environmental problems caused by rapid ageing, and share information, knowledge, and experiences related to ageing. In order to realize the vision, ‘Jinju, where tolerance and generosity coexist’, Jinju City has created unique comprehensive plans for its older citizens such as creating eco-friendly forests, expanding cultural and artistic spaces, modernizing Anrak Park, providing information through welfare call centers, and sharing the process and results of these plans with other cities.

And we will continue to make efforts towards supporting the global ageing population by helping find effective solutions.
