Chigasaki city’s population is 243,375 as of April 1, 2018; the ratio of people aged 65 and over is 25.8%, and estimated to be 27% in 2025.
To deal with this situation, we established a basic policy, “Creating a community toward a fruitful longevity society” in 2015, and have been implementing ageing measures to aim at creating a community for older people to be healthy, maximize their ability and become motivated while fulfilling their desires in life.
Specifically, we are preparing our Community-based Integrated Care System which provides seniors with various services in a coordinated manner, such as medical and nursing care, prevention of care dependency, housing and living support. To promote this system, we formed Older People’s Welfare Plan and Public Nursing Care Insurance Project Plan in 2018 to support seniors to enrich their lives, become healthy and prevent care dependency, based on six principles: supporting seniors to enrich their lives in a diversified way; encouraging seniors to maintain their health and to prevent care dependency; creating communities for seniors to live safely and comfortably; creating a regional support network for seniors; forming a framework for early detection of people with dementia and to
support them; and improving nursing care services involving Public Nursing Care Insurance, provision of long-term care, prevention of care dependency and enhancement of daily living support.
We will continue to implement our age-friendly initiatives in line with Chigasaki
Comprehensive Policy to be more age-friendly, healthy and longevity city while collaborating with the Kanagawa Prefectural Government as well as neighboring cities and communities.
