The City Council of Cariñena carries out active aging actions always counting with the opinion of older people in our municipality, especially through the Association of Older People and other participative channels.

We are interested in maintaining this policy and, in addition, to improve it participating in this initiative of the WHO.

As Cariñena is not a big municipality it is still possible to maintain personal relationships thus keeping the sense of belinging within our population.There is a strong social change taking place in the city due to the reception of a large number of people of foreign origin, something we have been working on for a long time, thus contributing to the friendliness of the environment.Circumstances that can lead to social marginalization of older people caused by greater authority, related to loneliness and isolation, linked to the more consistent social and family network that are more generally in a social environment, this type, and that from the City Council we must support. This is another of our concerns and we also articulate small measures to face it.

These are some of the actions that are being carried out by the City Council. For us, the participation of the elderly in social life and the recognition of an active role in their service are essential for their perception of their situation to be satisfactory and an element of important quality of life.
