Committed To Becoming More Age-Friendly
Caerphilly Wales
About Caerphilly County
Caerphilly County is situated within the South Wales Valleys and covers approximately 108 square miles, with much of its land dedicated to agriculture and forestry. It is home to around 176,000 residents, with 40% of the population aged 50 and over.
The county is made up of close-knit communities that reflect a proud mining and steel heritage, alongside vibrant towns that offer unique opportunities to live, work, shop, and enjoy local amenities. Together, these communities make Caerphilly County a diverse and welcoming place.
Valuing Our Older Residents
Older people play a vital role in our communities. Their knowledge, experience, and contributions help create stronger, more connected places to live. We are committed to supporting older residents and ensuring they have opportunities to remain active, engaged, and valued.
Supporting Healthy Ageing
As our population continues to age, we are focused on ensuring that Caerphilly County is a place where people can age well. This includes making sure that older residents, particularly those who are most vulnerable, can access the support, services, and opportunities they need to remain healthy, independent, and connected.
Listening and Engagement
Listening to older people is central to our approach. We are committed to ensuring that their views are heard and reflected in decision-making. By strengthening opportunities for engagement, we aim to support older residents in influencing services and shaping future developments.
Our Priorities
- Strengthening partnerships: Coordinating Age Friendly Community Steering Group meetings to enhance collaboration and engagement.
- Supporting a community voice: Working closely with the older peoples groups to help shape our approach to ageing well.
- Driving continuous improvement: Promoting good practice and raising awareness of Age Friendly initiatives across the county.
Looking Ahead
Through these actions, we aim to ensure that Caerphilly County continues to be a place where people of all ages can thrive, and where growing older is supported, respected, and celebrated.
