Services of the Baltimore County Department of Aging are primarily focused on older adults, their families and caregivers as the local Area Agency on Aging. The vision of the Department of Aging is Living Longer~Living Well focused on providing programs and services to assist older adults to age in the setting of their choice. Various other agencies have targeted services for older adults including Health, Social Services, and Libraries. The lnteragency Committee on Aging (IAC) is working on housing issues that include Aging as the lead, Social Services, Planning, Code Enforcement, Zoning, Fire and Police/ Crisis Response in a coordinated effort to assure safe and affordable housing for older adults. Baltimore County Planning has a vision of more inclusive communities that are walkable, main-street focused with enhanced transportation options. A recent Transition Report highlighted transportation, aging-in-place initiatives and creative housing options as areas for focus on the county level. All will be addressed through this process to make Baltimore County more age-friendly.
