Little Learners Meet Big Traditions in the Nurseries

As Part of a New Volunteer Program in Sharjah… Moza Al-Dhahmani Presents “Emirati Etiquette” to Children at Al-Siyouh Nursery

As part of the educational and cultural activities organized by the Sharjah Social Services Department, Moza Mohammed Al-Dhahmani, a participant in the Knowledge is Light program — an adult literacy initiative — delivered an awareness session titled “Emirati Etiquette” at Al-Siyouh Nursery, as part of the Emirati Etiquette Specialist initiative — a new volunteer-driven effort aimed at promoting authentic Emirati values and national identity.

This initiative is part of a new volunteer track that enables senior citizens and participants in social programs to pass on their cultural and heritage knowledge to younger generations. Moza is one of many volunteers actively engaged in this initiative, each contributing to the dissemination of traditional Emirati values in various community settings.

The program introduced a set of core Emirati customs and positive social behaviors, such as hospitality etiquette, respect for elders, traditional attire, and other social norms, delivered in a simple and interactive format tailored to the children’s age group.

The initiative also reflects the department’s commitment to promoting intergenerational communication and instilling appreciation and respect for the elderly in young children, while strengthening their cultural identity through engaging educational experiences.

The session received enthusiastic responses from both children and nursery staff, who praised the engaging delivery and the program’s impact in raising cultural awareness and fostering national belonging.
