Leeds Lunch Clubs

Leeds Lunch Clubs are supporting older people to with hot, nutritious food, companionship and engaging activities

The Leeds Lunch Club Grants are currently supporting 84 clubs and organisations to provide hot meals for older people across Leeds.  The grant has enabled at least 20 older people per club (average is 38) to enjoy a hot meal and companionship for at least 40 weeks of the year. Clubs run using different delivery models to suit the needs of the local community – each club ranges in the charges they make to residents for the food with some running on a pay as you feel basis and some providing transport to those in need.

  • 24 of those are in the most deprived areas of Leeds
  • 22 of those are in the most isolated areas according to the social isolation index
  • 8 of those serve people in the most deprived and isolated quintiles of Leeds

Projections for 19/20 will see 142,432 interactions between providers/volunteers and older people with the same number of hot/nutritious lunches served.
