Under the patronage of the department of the social services in Sharjah, they organized a five- day visit to Azerbaijan for elderly, which held place from 5th to 9th of May in Baku. This trip was filled with various historical tourist attraction for the elderly, which come under the joining of Sharjah membership in the Age-friendly cities global network. This initiative is to ensure the participation of the older people in community- based programs in order to achieve the strategic objectives of Sharjah’s joining of the Global Network for Age-friendly Cities. The tour program involves 49 senior members and accompanying medical supervisors and staff, includes recreational trips within Baku. As well as field visits of the city of the Baku highest city- level elevation and alongside to the visit to the Carpet Museum. This initiative was important because it has break the isolation of the elderly and reintegrate them into the society through various programs commensurate with their different interest. However, the Social services department in Sharjah the trips is carried out annually hoping to achieve happiness and entertainment for the elderly.
