In 2018, The Tochikubo Shopping Club started as an initiative run by seven volunteers from the Tochikubo Community Assocoation.
Every Wednesday, the club provides transportation to and from sales stores and supermarkets in the nearby Toge area for older adults who have difficulty in shopping due to lack of transportation.
Tochikubo district is located in a steep mountain village about two kilometers from the nearest stores and supermarkets.
The shopping club is available to members in the local community association who have registered to use the club.
