Free public parking for elderly citizens in Emirates of Sharjah

 

The Sharjah Municipality has announced that elderly in city of Sharjah will be exempt from public parking fees by providing free annual subscriptions that allow them to park their cars in all parking areas in the city for free. This initiative is launched by the municipality as part of ongoing initiative to support elderly as it to support Sharjah age-friendly program. The municipality will begin to provide these subscriptions virtually through the website which make it easier and simple to the public. The service of issuing free subscriptions for the elderly will be launched on the municipality’s website, starting from January 19, 2021. It will be launched after all necessary measures have been taken and the expected number of 3 thousand beneficiaries to benefit from this service is counted at an estimated value of 7 million dirhams, according to a set of conditions Identified.

The municipality provides this service to the elderly in the Emirate of Sharjah according to a set of requirements which are that the applicant must be a citizen of the emirate of the age 60 years or more. In addition, prevent the use of parking lots for persons with disabilities or parking lots reserved for commercial establishments and others, unless he is a beneficiary of the service they provide, and each family will be granted only one subscription for one elderly beneficiary if the conditions for granting the subscription are met.

The service can be applied from the municipality’s website starting from January 19 by entering the website and choosing smart and electronic services and then choosing public parking management services, then parking subscriptions for the elderly and completing the rest of the procedures from filling in the required data to issue subscription. As it is required to provide a copy of the Emirates ID and a copy of the registration summary and a copy of the vehicle’s ownership in the name of the beneficiary or one of his first-degree relatives.
