Dublin Declaration of Age-Friendly Cities and Communities

On the occasion of the First International Conference ‘Building the WHO Global Network of AgeFriendly Cities’, held in Dublin, Ireland on 28-30 September 2011, cities and communities signed the Dublin Declaration of Age-Friendly Cities and Communities, recognizing the importance of age-friendly environments for healthy ageing and committing to several actions to make the world a better place to grow older in.

The Conference also served to strengthen the WHO Global Network of Age-friendly Cities and Communities and advance thinking and approaches on how to make cities more age-friendly. It brought together a broad range of stakeholders from the public, private and voluntary sectors in areas such as transport, urban planning, health care, housing, research and academia.
