Sharjah Age-friendly office has announced the result of Age-friendly institution initiatives at its second round. The main aim of the initiative is to enhance the membership of the Emirate of Sharjah in the global network of Age-friendly cities and its one of the important initiatives of the strategic plan.

The initiative has standards for accessible services and community empowerment for the elderly and those who passed the 80% from the required criteria were granted accreditation of their building as an Age-friendly institution.

The total number of the participations in its second round about 21 buildings. The Age-friendly office has awarded 5 buildings that passed 80% which are Al Qassimi Hospital, Hamriya Municipality, Kalba Health Center, khorfakkan specialized dental center and Sharjah Science Museum.

Entities that have passes the criteria of the Age-friendly buildings initiative makes encouragement for all institutions in Sharjah to adopt Age-friendly standards and implement all initiatives and programs that contribute to being age-friendly institutions.
