Summary

Starred is an educational model that caters to special accommodations, day care centers, home care and assistance unit units. The purpose is to provide staff with dementia knowledge and tools to be able to develop a person-centered approach in their workplace.

Four reflection sessions: The educational model comprises of four teaching sessions with reflection meetings. Before each opportunity, participants should prepare for a web education and homework assignment. The web training courses that are part of Starred and are free of charge and available on the Swedish Dementia Center’s education portal:

  • Dementia ABC
  • Dementia ABC plus Home Services or Special Living
  • Zero Vision – for dementia care without coercion and limitations

How to become a Starred workplace: When at least 80 percent of the staff have completed the four training steps and the workplace works based on the intent of the training model, it is awarded the Starred diploma. The star mark has been reviewed every year since

Dementia-friendly municipality: In the Hallstahammar municipality, all employees in the entire older adult care sector must be trained in Star-marked dementia care, this is an important part of the municipality’s ambition to become a dementia-friendly municipality.
