Summary

A senior pilot was hired in January 2023. The senior pilot is a service which is provided by the Municipality of Gävle to offer a safer and easier everyday life for older residents of the municipality. Residents can call or visit the senior pilot for information about where to receive support and help with various issues impacted by age. Our mission is to work against anxiety and involuntary loneliness, and assist older persons to be digitally included. The senior pilot is complimentary to the Municipality of Gävle’s customer service. The senior pilot is, in contrast to customer service, physically at places where older persons are, for example meeting points for seniors, libraries, grocery stores etc. This service will be evaluated after two years of employment.

Looking back

Challenges:
One of the challenges was to communicate this service. We sent a postcard to all seniors age 65 and over, to tell them that we now can offer the service of a senior pilot. We also used all the digital channels, such as webpages, social media and so on.
