Summary

Rock Through The Ages is a social participation initiative based on the PhD research of Dr Julia Jones, the CEO of Found in Music. The primary aim is to harness the popular music taste of several generations to facilitate events that encourage inter-generational social participation. These events were first run in this community between 2011 – 2014 as part of Julia’s PhD research. The results clearly showed how pop and rock music themes could connect several age groups because the genre is now over 60 years old. Several generations have grown up with rock and pop music.

Looking back

Challenges:
Marketing is always a challenge. It is essential to make the target audience aware that the event is happening. We are currently partnering with local organisations to ensure that we reach a wider audience. We need help to reach those who are most at risk – the local residents who are socially isolated. We are contacting local organisations who can assist in this regard.
