Summary

Within the wide range of workshops and courses that the Valencia City Council allocates to the older people, the memory workshop has turned to be one of the most on-demand activities due to the increasing number of applications received.

The memory workshop is a free service that is geared at all those persons that are over sixty years old who want to exercise their memory. The workshops teach techniques that can help older adults stay cognitively active contributing to the prevention or delayed progression of disorders such as Dementia or Alzheimer’s.

The memory workshops guidelines are directed by specialized personnel from the Department for Active Ageing of the Valencia City Council with a degree of in Psychology. The length of each session is around an hour and a half, and each workshop has a maximum of 15 assistants. This way it is possible to offer a personalized attention while evaluating the correct progression of each participant.
