Summary

A town is divided into spatial segments. Teams of 1-2 older people and 1-2 children or youngsters (ca. 13+) go together to map places in the segment that are dirty and neglected but need only a small improvement, mostly in appearance (cleaning a corner, painting a banister), tiny accessories (bench, basket) or complements (a sign). Young members manage mobile cameras and GPS while the older participants manage the team motion and create final descriptions of its “discovers”.

A municipality would receive a list of the places and could employ its maintenance organisation or a local NGO to realize the improvements suggested by the team. The younger generation can see that they can have the power to change things and that cooperation with older people can be rewarding and fruitful.
