The City of Moncton is participating in an intergenerational initiative involving the Mayor’s Seniors’ Advisory Committee and Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee. This is part of the New Brunswick Healthy Seniors Pilot Project (PHAC & NB Gov) initiative ‘iGAP’ InterGenerational Action Plan to help improve the quality of life of older adults in New Brunswick with small acts every day. The Youth Committee will be preparing videos, such as baking videos and arts and crafts to share with older adults. We are also exploring other ideas such as providing computer training online. This year at Christmas, due to Covid-19, the City hosted a virtual concert online and this was available on the City of Moncton Facebook Page. We have a distribution list for older adults and they were provided the link to watch the concert.
We hope to plan more intergenerational activities and keep our seniors up to date on virtual events during this covid crisis.
