Summary

Digifriends for Older Adults is an ongoing project, that will support digitally excluded older citizens in Gävle. Volunteers teach older people to use smartphones and tablets, so they for example can shop and do their bank affairs online.

PRO (The National Association of Pensioners) co-organization in Gävle is the owner of the project and cooperates with Gävle- agefriendly city with financial support from Microsoft.

Digital development is moving faster now in these COVID-19 times. People who do not have digital knowledge and access to digital aids are becoming increasingly excluded. For example, older adults are often required to have mobile ID scans in order to communicate with health care systems and even to make purchases at local shops.

Purpose:
Increasing the digital knowledge of people 65 years and older in an effort to minimize the impact of digital exclusion and enable greater independence, participation, and community belonging.

Goal:
Older people who want to use/acquire digital solutions should be offered support and training to increase their digital capabilities

By 2021-12-30, 100 people received support and started using MobiltBankID.
