Summary

Recognizing the importance of accessibility and the impact this can have on the active participation within and inclusiveness of a society, the accessible film sessions were organized.

A variety of technical aids were supplied as necessary for each film shown including but not limited to audio description and subtitles. Additionally, accommodations for physical disability were made.

Furthermore, the films themselves were chosen to reflect healthy ageing and positive attitudes around ageing.

These film sessions ultimately allowed older individuals to participate actively in the community, socialize with other older people as well as facilitate intergenerational communication. The content of the films, which focus on healthy ageing, also helped to challenge ageist beliefs.
