• The ceremony was hosted by Ricky Thomlinson a well-known English actor, comedian and author;• The ceremony was instrumental in bringing together all partners to showcase what Liverpool thinks of its older people and how Liverpool Cares for older people within the city;• Rewarding OP for their achievements and efforts gave people -a sense of worth and respect;• The evening ceremony was well received and although oversubscribed on the night, the venue catered for the additional attendees;• All unsuccessful applicants received a certificate and a letter of thanks for submitting their application from LMH;• All successful applicants received a monetary gift (on the night) of up to £500.00 Prizes include 1st, 2nd and 3rd place of £100, £50 and £25 for• individual winners and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place of £500, £250, and £125 for the agency and initiative awards for older people.

Feedback:
• The awards ceremony will be reviewed at the Liverpool Older Persons Liverpool Older Persons Housing and Wellbeing Forum in May 2017;• Feedback received has been positive.• Categories and prizes will remain the same for 2017.

Expansion plans:
• Additional tickets for the Award ceremony evening to be available to accommodate increased demand;• To promote the awards more widely, to encourage more older people / agencies supporting older people to apply and be part of this unique project within Liverpool.

Looking back

Reflections:
• To involve Older People in the design of the application forms;• Promote the awards and incentives for applying (i.e. monetary prizes) more widely;• To encourage people to apply and give support to complete their application form if required;• The evening was free to all attendees. Proposal 2017- To charge for tickets for family members ,friends and colleagues (Shortlisted applicants, nominees and agencies involved in the forum would attend free of charge) ;• Apply for more sponsorship.

Challenges:
• In 2016 categories were reviewed and a number of categories were combined;• The format of the evening was changed in a response from feedback received. All awards were not presented at once they were spaced out throughout the evening;• The prize money was increased;• The Smile Award was introduced;• Oversubscription of the night. The venue dealt with this magnificently and were able to accommodate the additional attendees.
