Porto, Portugal – Municipality reinforces its role as an age-friendly city in meeting with the World Health Organization

This Tuesday, Porto hosted a meeting that brought together the World Health Organization (WHO), representatives of the Municipality, and several partner foundations, including the Manuel António da Mota Foundation, the “La Caixa” Foundation, and the Aga Khan Foundation. The meeting served to explore opportunities for collaboration within the framework of the WHO Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities.

The session, held in the City Council’s Council Chamber, was attended by Thiago Hérick de Sá, coordinator of the WHO Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities, City Councillor for Social Cohesion Fernando Paulo, Director of the Municipal Department of Social Cohesion Raquel Castello-Branco, Head of the Division for Social Development and Innovation Hugo Tavares, and representatives of the participating foundations.

The purpose of the meeting was to deepen dialogue between the WHO, the Municipality, and Portuguese foundations, with the aim of identifying new opportunities for cooperation around three strategic areas: technical exchange between cities and communities, strengthening the presence of Lusophone countries within the global network, and ensuring the sustainability of the secretariat that supports ongoing initiatives.
