Summary

The pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus has had a direct impact on the decline in demand for health care among older people, and it was essential to ensure a rapid return to preventive and diagnostic health care. Public taxi transport provides accessible, reliable, safe, comfortable and affordable travel for the population aged 65 and over, many of whom have limited mobility.

This is a service provided by the Municipality, associated with the “Porto.” card, available to cardholders aged 65 and over, which allows taxi transportation at a reduced fixed price (€2) from an address in Porto to a public or private health center or hospital located in the Municipality, or on the return journey from one of these health facilities.

All “Porto.” cardholders have access to this service, from the day they turn 65. Joining “Porto.” card is free and the service operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
