Geochang will develop and implement various policies, programs, and services to establish itself as an age-friendly city. The focus will be on supporting older persons to remain active members of society and enhancing their quality of life.

To enable older citizens to cherish independent and active lifestyles, Geochang will create a safe and accessible environment. This will be followed by the enhancement of the transportation system, providing easy accessibility for older persons, and designing residential environments with careful consideration regarding their convenience.

We will provide older persons with various forms of leisure activities and educational programs to promote their health and well-being lifestyle, encouraging them to actively participate in society once again. This initiative provides opportunities for continuous learning, acquiring new skills, and engaging in social communication.

Geochang will strengthen support for healthcare and personal care for seniors by providing specialized healthcare services and long-term care services to ensure that they receive the necessary medical support. Additionally, to prevent social isolation among older adults, we will establish services to promote communication and interaction within the local community.

With the specific vision of “With Honor and Respect, Prosperous 100-Year-Life,” Geochang has set two major strategies: one is the Age-Friendly City Business Strategy, and the other is the Age-Friendly Development Strategy. These strategies encompass eight areas (external environment and facilities, convenience of transportation, safety of residential environments, leisure and social activities, social participation and employment, respect and social integration, communication and information, regional care, and medical services). To achieve the goals in these areas, Geochang will implement 48 projects over the next three years, including two major strategies and four detailed strategies.

These plans will contribute to older residents leading healthy and vibrant lives and to creating Geochang where all generations can coexist. Such initiatives play a crucial role in transforming Geochang into a city that thrives with the prosperity of all generations, rather than merely being a place where people grow older.
