Social service department in Sharjah has launched an volunteer opportunity which called “The giving box”. This initiative main goal is to equip and arrange food baskets provided by Sharjah cooperative society in Mughaidir suburb council in Sharjah and Social service department branches. This initiative is for the benefit of the elderly who is living alone and order to support them to overcome the corona virus pandemic and avoid them to leave their home. The department aims to involve volunteer from the community in preparation and packaging the food baskets boxes for 2000 from the elderly. The giving box initiative aimed to let the volunteering in Sharjah play main goal through the Corona pandemic period. The volunteer opportunity allowed 166 volunteers to participate in serving the community and meets their needs in the light of the corona pandemic. As the volunteers arrange the food funds while adhering the highest levels of prevention and health safety before the start of their field trip. This initiative enhanced the social responsibility with the aim of providing support and assistance to families and elderly who lives alone in their home from all the nationalities over the age of 60, by satisfying their demands and living needs.​
