Exempting the elderly and people with disabilities from the fees of using buses in Sharjah

                                                     

Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority has launched the Age-friendly public transport initiative. This initiative exempts some groups from fees for using the public transportation as well as a new tariff for taxis for people with disabilities. Under his patronage of his highness Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed alQassimi Member of the supreme council and ruler of Sharjah to fulfill his vision toward making the emirate an ideal environment for elderly.

The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority worked to prepare the emirate of Sharjah as an age-friendly city in order to achieve the strategic objectives of Sharjah’s joining of the Global Network for Age-friendly Cities. The Sharjah government has provided services for elderly which take into account its various projects and initiative the needs of the elderly and people with disabilities. Method of benefiting and obtaining the exemption from paying the fees. The Transport authority is in the process of setting up a mechanism for issuing permits for the elderly and people with disabilities.
