In the community of El Salto, older adults represent an important part of the vulnerable population, a group in which we have always focused our interest. There are currently several programs, workshops and public works designed to help increase the quality of life of older people and ensure that they can be active members within society. Examples of these programs and activities are mentioned below:

Municipal DIF workshops such as occupational therapy, cultural and artistic activities:
Crafts:
– Singing
– Folk dance
– Sports
– Beauty contests

Health care:
– Nutritional support
– Psychological therapies
– Physiotherapy
– Community kitchens

Programs providing economic support:
– INAPAM card (National Institute for the Elderly) provides discounts and acts as an official form of identification at the national level.
– “MY PASSAGE” support program provides vouchers to older adults for free travel on public transport.
– Federal Program for the well-being of older persons, in which we participate jointly with the Federal Government providing the logistical means to provide support for older people, such as the provision of furniture (chairs, tables, awnings) and attention of municipal authorities such as Civil Protection and Fire, Public Security and Municipal Social Programs that help carry out the program.

Finally, efforts have been carried out around the municipality to make El Salto gradually more inclusive to older persons, including sidewalks, ramps, designated spaces exclusively for older adults and rehabilitation of parks and gardens to encourage older adults to participate in outdoor activities.
