Our community has, for some time now, adopted diverse strategies and guidelines to grant more areas with more participation of people of greater age. We have worked towards this by realizing the following points.
• Giving professional advice of habitual actions, integration into community life, social participation, culture, artistic and intellectual views among others. With the objective to improve the quality of life of the people of greater age in Coronel.
• Permanent; orientation, strengthening, and groupings of the greater aged population. Helping them to excite their organization and functionality.
• Excecuting covenants that the municipality has agreed to, in order to favor the greater aged community such as:
• Special discounts for people of greater age.
• Operating optomatrists
• Field health operatives where a team of Pysicians, Kinesiologists, Nurses, and Podiatrist; perform multidisciplinary care in community headquarters or even the address of those who require it.
• Promoting actions that sustain the participation in the process of aging active and healthy. Offering alternative teachings and recreation that often improve the quality of life.
• Workshops of digital literacy and use of smartphones, for people of greater age.
• Workshops of yoga, singing and folkloric dances.
• Seniors Volunteer Program, “Senior Advisors”, executed initially through an agreement between the Illustrious Municipality of Coronel and the National Service for the Elderly (NSE) and also executing it with the commune’s own resources, increasing the coverage and encouraging greater participation of the Elderly; who through personalized classes collaborate with the improvement of the academic performance of children of vulnerable families in our community.
• Training and workshops for senior leaders, with the sole purpose of enhancing their skills and encouraging greater participation of the elderly in leadership roles.
