Summary
The project “Support Active Seniors with Reward Points” encourages older people in Odawara City aged 60 and over to become socially active and meaningfully participate in the local community. To do so, participants who sign-up through this project work as volunteers at designated welfare facilities or events, and earn ‘reward points’ based on their contributed volunteer hours. These points can be exchanged with local products or emergency supplies in the year after they are earned.
The results of the project are positive: the number of sign-ups and volunteers are growing every year. In order to increase our participants’ motivation and provide more choice, the project is increasing the number and categories of facilities for volunteer opportunities as well as items eligible for points exchange every year.
