CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: Roster of Experts for Assessment of Covid-19 Vaccines

WHO will commence the screening of submissions and assessment of Covid-19 vaccine candidates. According to the type of approval issued by the National Regulatory Authority of record, vaccines may be eligible for evaluation through the Prequalification process (PQ) or the Emergency Use Listing procedure (EUL).

The EUL procedure was developed by WHO to assess and list medical products that are still in development that may be used during a public health emergency (PHE).


The EUL procedure includes two committees:

a) Product Evaluation Committee (PEC) and

b) Advisory Committee for Emergency Use Listing (ACEUL), selected from a roster of experts. For vaccines, the committees are PEC-V and ACEUL-V.

 

This call is for nominations of individuals with qualifications in the following areas of expertise:

  • Knowledge of the different platforms for development of Covid-19 vaccines
  • Production and quality control, quality risk management and GMP
  • Clinical trial design for novel viruses/novel diseases/Covid-19 vaccines
  • Clinical data assessment
  • Immunology
  • Epidemiology of Covid-19
  • Risk assessment/ Risk management plans

How to apply

The following documents must be submitted in order for your application to be considered for membership of EUL Roster of Experts for vaccines. For nominations submitted by a third party, the nominees will be contacted by the Secretariat and are expected to confirm their interest through submission of a complete application package.

  • Curriculum vitae (CV) should include your career history and list your main areas of employment or other relevant activity and other public appointments. You should also include details of any relevant academic and professional experience. Your CV will be used in the assessment of your expertise. The CV should be written in English. Ensure you include all contact details including, if available, a cell phone number.
  • A letter of motivation highlighting what your contribution to the EUL Roster of Experts for Vaccines or the EUL committee(s) would be. It is important that you provide evidence that you have the expertise required for the PEC-V or the ACEUL-V. In order to propose your participation in one of the committees please see the Terms of Reference for the PEC-V and ACEUL-V committees

Note: WHO highly recommends that you read the EUL procedure, including Terms of Reference for the PEC and ACEUL committees and the PQ procedure to learn about the mode of operation, the tasks of the members of the committees and the documents they need to sign should they be selected for an assignment.

After receipt of the applications:

  • Nominations will first be screened for eligibility by the Secretariat. We will rely on only the information you provide to assess whether you have the experience required at the appropriate level. We will contact you should any details need to be clarified, or any further information requested
  • Telephone interviews may be scheduled between nominees and the EUL Secretariat or members of the selection panel to clarify areas of uncertainties about your experience and expertise and ask specific questions to explore whether you meet the specified qualities
  • Candidates who best fit the criteria and match the needed expertise with due consideration to ensuring a proper balance will be proposed for appointment to the Director RPQ who will make the final decision
  • Successful candidates will receive a letter inviting them to serve on the Roster of Experts for EUL of vaccines by 15 October 2020
  • Unsuccessful nominations will also be notified by the Secretariat
