Health, Money and Power: influencing the trajectory to 2025 and 2030
Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) have rattled the global health landscape, demanding an urgent realignment of priorities and processes to address the immense health, economic and social development burden. Recent projections provide an optimistic lens to incentivize countries towards action: for every dollar invested in NCD prevention and control, there is an estimated return of US $7. The 2021 report, ‘Saving lives, spending less: the case for investing in NCD’ shows that an additional investment of US$ 0.84 per person per year in low-income countries (LICs) and low and middle-income countries (LMICs) could deliver a package of measures that will reduce the burden of NCDs and deliver on the promise.
How do we equip leaders at all levels with the core skills in managing change, influencing up, negotiating and collaborating across sectors? What innovative financing solutions can leaders enact to strengthen national responsibility for NCD financing? How can they fill the data gap on domestic financing to inform strategic investment?
Effective leadership is required to drive changes at all levels of the health system, and a pivotal shift is needed to strengthen the governance and financing of NCDs. This webinar session will draw on lessons from current leaders and experts in global health and financing to map out essential and practical guidance for leaders across the spectrum of healthcare, NGOs, international organizations, Ministries of Health and beyond.
Session Objective
This session will explore key leadership and governance facets of a strengthened NCD response and promote discussion on pivotal shifts needed to drive change at all levels of the health system.
