The diagnosis, 2019

The documentary is directed by Beto Novaes, coordinator of the Education Through Images Project from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). In the film, we learn about Lídia’s story, a tobacco farmer poisoned by pesticides. We can see the different dimensions that pesticides cause on the individual and collective levels in a tobacco growing area. The importance of the theme covered in the documentary calls attention to society’s way of life and even the health system organization.

This film highlights the need to urgently implement Article 18 of the WHO FCTC by the Parties of the Convention to protect tobacco growers’ health and life.
