The short title of this Act is the Health Ministry Act. This Act amends the 1972 Act establishing the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to create and establish the Ministry of Health.

This Act establishes the Seychelles Nurses and Midwives Council, makes provision for registration of nurses and midwives, for their training, qualification and disciplinary control; repeals the Midwives Act, and the Nurses' Registration Act; and provides for connected purposes.

The Constitution was promulgated in 1984 and modified in 1996. It includes 133 articles addressing a wide array of issues including among other things fundamental rights and freedoms, the fundamental principles of the State and institutional arrangements.
