- Legislation database: The sources represented in the Legislation Database were originally collected as part of an assessment of the legislative frameworks for universal health coverage in the 47 countries of the WHO African Region, complemented by online searches.
In many countries, access to legislation was scattered and different sources were consulted including websites from various ministries, regulatory agencies, parliaments, and international partners. National Health Policy, Strategy, and Plan (NHPSPs): The data represented in the NHPSP section, as well as in the Global Repository of the Country Planning Cycle Database, has been systematically collected by the Governance team since 2012. This initiative aims to empower countries to make data-driven decisions and develop more effective health policies, strategies, and plans.
The collection process involves gathering national official documents and country plans using a cross-cutting approach. This method is characterized by systematic engagement with diverse stakeholders, including:- Governance Regional Focal Points

- Consortium of focal points in WHO Technical Programmes
- International Organizations and specialized institutions
This centralized repository serves as a comprehensive resource for national health plans, strategies, and programs, alongside thematic health plans, covering all WHO Member States. It reflects a collaborative effort to strengthen governance and strategic planning capacities across the global health landscape.
