Join international experts on 15 and 16 June 2016 to discuss Universal Health Coverage (UHC), a fundamental component of sustainable development and poverty reduction, and a key element of any effort to reduce social inequities.

WHO organizes a session on How to strengthen good governance and aid effectiveness to achieve Universal Health Coverage?  on 15 June from 14h15-15h30 during the European Development Days in Brussels. This session will be an opportunity to provide insights on the implementation of the EU-LUX-WHO Partnership in 28 countries to support policy dialogue on national health policies, strategies and plans to promote universal health coverage.  Experts from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Senegal will share the results, challenges and lessons learnt. In partnership with the European Commission and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg, WHO is co-organizing an event from 14:15–15:30 on 15 June: Strengthening good governance and aid effectiveness to achieve universal health coverage.

This session will provide an opportunity to:

  • understand the interdependence of health and development;
  • gain insight into the implementation of the EU-Luxembourg-WHO Universal Health Coverage Partnership in 28 countries to support dialogue on national health policies, strategies and plans to promote universal health coverage; and
  • learn from international experts about the results of the Partnership, including challenges and lessons learned.
