Background
WHO in its WHA69/39 session adopted the ‘Framework on Integrated, People-centred Health Services (IPCHS),’ providing a compelling vision of how to close the health access gap by transforming health systems to be designed for people. The concept of integrated health services can be summarized as: “the organization and management of health services so that people get the care they need, when they need it, in ways that are user friendly, achieve the desired results and provide value for money.”
Noncommunicable diseases account for a large and growing proportion of the burden of disease across the globe. WHO leads current global work to “Integrate NCDs with national HIV/AIDS, TB, and Sexual and Reproductive Health Programmes and into the Health System,” with ambitions to generate key considerations for provision of comprehensive NCD services, integration of service delivery across NCDs and communicable diseases, and into primary health care.
This webinar delves into the world of integration to decipher its true and practical meaning as it applies to NCD care in low and middle-income countries. What does it mean?
