PAGnet makes its way to a wider yet targeted audience

The network was actively presented to the participants of the following two key meetings in an effort to outreach the PAG community and to be a catalyst of information that gets the good practices rolling:

  • A workshop entitled "STRENGTHENING OF CORE CAPACITIES OF IHR (2005) AND INSPECTION OF SHIPS AND ISSUANCE OF SHIP SANITATION CERTIFICATES" that was staged in Brazil in June 2010 for Portugese speaking countries and selected countries in South America. This was a meeting with a combination of lectures, group discussions and practicals, largely intended to enhance port health as well as standardization of inspection and issuance procedures for ship sanitation certificates.
  • Regional Meeting on IHR Core Capacities at Points of Entry that was held in Sri Lanka in July 2010 for South-East Asian countries. The meeting was an important step forward for the region addressing the issues related to IHR points of entry, including compliance to IHR obligations, preparedness planning and capacity building in terms of human and financial resources.

These efforts have resulted in application of PAGnet membership by the meeting participants as well as further dissemination of the information about PAGnet to their peers.
