The Research Unit on the Economics of Excisable Products (REEP) (formerly the Economics of Tobacco Control Project (ETCP)), based at the University of Cape Town (UCT), was nominated by the South Africa National Department of Health to host a Knowledge Hub, as designated by the Secretariat of the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC). Establishing the Knowledge Hub illustrates South Africa’s support to the WHO FCTC, and leadership on tobacco taxation.
