National Health Policy Strategy and Plan

Objetivos de trabajo y criterios de medidas 2021

Cuba’s National Health Plan 2021-2025 focuses on improving population health outcomes through preventive care, epidemiological surveillance, and health system efficiency. The plan aligns with the country’s broader socio-economic development strategy and prioritizes universal access, equity, and sustainability in healthcare services. Key objectives include strengthening primary healthcare with an emphasis on the Family Doctor and Nurse Program, improving hygiene and epidemiology efforts, and ensuring the availability of essential medicines and medical technologies. The plan also emphasizes scientific research, digital health transformation, and human resource development to enhance service quality and resilience. Challenges remain in financial sustainability, access to certain medical supplies due to external constraints, and the need for continuous workforce training. The strategy includes expanding international medical cooperation and optimizing resource management to maintain service delivery standards. While the plan outlines comprehensive measures to reinforce Cuba’s healthcare model, its success depends on sustained government support, efficient use of available resources, and adaptation to emerging public health challenges.
