Bolivia’s Sectoral Integral Development Plan for the Health Sector (2021–2025) focuses on strengthening universal health coverage through the development of the Unified Health System (SUS) and improvements in short-term social security. A key focus is on human resources management, ensuring the availability of qualified personnel across all levels of care. Strategies include planning, training, and continuous education for healthcare professionals, as well as equitable distribution and regulation of health workers. The integration of traditional medicine and intercultural health practices is also a priority, promoting access to alternative treatments while respecting ancestral health practices. The plan seeks to strengthen the healthcare delivery model, emphasizing regionalization and enhanced service capacity in health facilities. It also aims to optimize healthcare management and ensure food security as a fundamental pillar of public health. Additionally, the plan promotes the implementation of health information systems to improve planning and decision-making processes. Finally, the strategy encourages social participation and citizen oversight in health system management, ensuring transparency and compliance with established objectives.
