4th Health Population and Nutrition Programme 2017-2022 (extended until 2024)
Cras varius. Morbi mollis tellus ac sapien. Nulla consequat massa quis enim.Bangladesh’s 4th Health, Population, and Nutrition Sector Program (4th HPNSP) 2017–2022 aimed to strengthen healthcare governance, improve service accessibility, and address key health challenges. The program focused on universal health coverage, maternal and child health, nutrition, communicable and non-communicable disease control, and health system strengthening. Significant progress was made in reducing maternal and child mortality, expanding immunization coverage, and enhancing family planning services. Investments in digital health, workforce training, and supply chain management improved service efficiency. However, challenges remain in healthcare financing, workforce shortages, and rural healthcare accessibility. Out-of-pocket expenditures continue to pose financial risks for low-income populations. The strategy emphasized primary healthcare expansion, hospital service improvements, and disease prevention initiatives. Public health programs focused on malnutrition, reproductive health, tuberculosis, and non-communicable disease control. While progress was made, resource allocation inefficiencies, governance gaps, and disparities in urban and rural service delivery hindered full implementation. Despite these challenges, the 4th HPNSP provided a strong foundation for long-term health sector development. Ensuring sustained funding, better financial protection mechanisms, and stronger coordination among stakeholders will be critical for achieving Bangladesh’s health goals.
