Health Legislation

This order establishes the essential medicines list; this list is revised every three years (article 10).

This law applies to the processing of personal data contained or intended to be contained in a file, whether wholly or partly automated, as well as to non-automated processing of personal data. In particular, it applies to the processing of personal data relating to electronic communications.

The law regulates the State budget and expenditure of the year 2022.

This Decree provides for the definition of attributions of the Minister of Health and the organization of the Central Administration of his Department. This Decree establishes the special status of civil servants of the of the health corps classified in the following areas of specialization: medical-sanitary; medical sanitary engineering and public hygiene; biology. The Decree establishes free access to family planning care and services in Burkina Faso (art.1). These are provided in public health facilities by community health workers (art.2). Private facilities can choose to implement the same, but need to sign an agreement with the Ministry of Health to settle the conditions and modalities (art.3). Specific services covered are to be determined by a joint order from the Ministers responsible for Health and Finances (art.4). These measures are financed by the budget of the State and partners (art. 5) and will be realized progressively (art. 6).

The Ordinance creates a national public scientific and technological establishment called the "Institut national de Santé Publique" (National Institute of Public Health). The mission of the Institut National de Santé Publique is to set up a health monitoring and epidemiological surveillance system, and to promote research into health policies and systems.
