The law regulates the legal framework for the exercise of private medicine.   

The present Statute applies to the Hospitals of the National Health Service and aims to establish general rules on their organization and operation.

The Decree introduces an Identity Card for national citizens based on biometric elements. 

The resolution approves the Charter of Patients' Rights and Duties.

The Law establishes the Order of Doctors of Mozambique and provides the Statute of the Order as an integral part of the law.

This Regulation establishes the legal framework applicable to the contracting of public works, and the supply of goods and services to the State, including consultancy and concessions.

Consumer Protection Act

This Act protects the rights of consumers, addresses the interests and needs of consumers, establishes a Consumer Protection Council, provides an effective redress mechanism for consumer claims and provides for other matters incidental thereto or connected therewith.

Lei No 12/2004 Aprova o Código do Registo Civil

The law approves the Civil Registration Code.

Constituição

The Constitution was promulgated in 2004 and modified in 2018. It includes 306 articles (17 titles) addressing a large number of issues as the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, the fundamental principles of the state and institutional arrangements.

The Diploma approves the general regulation of hospitals in Mozambique. The regulation applies to all hospitals in the National Health Service and to those that are managed by the private non-profit sector.

The Resolution approves the Traditional medicine policy and implementation strategy.

The resolution approves the strategy for preventing and combating drugs.

This diploma establishes the technical description of the different institutions of the National Health Service across the four levels of care, the classification and their specific functions. 

This Ministerial Diploma approves the norms of the organization of the National Health Service for the care and treatment of people living with HIV/AIDS and the Guiding Principles for the treatment of patients with HIV/AIDS Infection and the respective Technical Guides.

Local Government Act

This Act amends and consolidates the law relating to local government and provides for the matters connected therewith and incidental thereto.

Decreto No 22/99 Aprova o Regulamento de Medicamentos

This Decree regulates the production, import, marketing and dispensing of medicines and one of its objectives is to ensure that medicines in the Republic of Mozambique are safe, effective, of good quality and meet the needs of the population.

The objective of Decree No. 21/99 is to establish the conditions, norms, and procedures for the practice of the pharmaceutical profession in Mozambique, ensuring compliance with technical, ethical, moral, and deontological principles.

Occupational Safety, Health and Welfare Act

This Act makes provision for the regulation of the conditions of employment in workplaces as regards the safety, health and welfare of persons employed therein; for the inspection of certain plant and machinery, and the prevention and regulation of accidents occurring to persons employed or authorized to go into the workplaces; and provides for matters connected with or incidental to the foregoing.

Environment Management Act

This Act makes provision for the protection and management of the environment and the conservation and sustainable utilization of natural resources and for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto.

Constitution

The Constitution of the Republic of Malawi was adopted in 1994 and revised in 2017. The Constitution is the supreme law of the Republic that sets out the core values and principles of the organization of the state, separates the powers, defines the rights and obligations of the people, etc. The Constitution of Malawi consists of 215 articles that are organized into 22 Chapters supplemented by a Schedule.
