Health Legislation

The law defines the legal framework for the prevention and comprehensive care of the human immunodeficiency virus and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS). The law includes the rights and obligations of people living with HIV as well as the prevention and prohibition of discriminatory practices. The law includes as well the treatments in the health system in Cabo Verde among other issues.

This Act makes provision for the prevention and management of HIV and AIDS; provides for the rights and obligations of persons living with HIV or affected by HIV and AIDS; provides for the establishment of the National AIDS Commission; and provides for matters incidental thereto or connected therewith.

The Ghana AIDS Commission Act, 2016 is to establish the Ghana AIDS commission and the National HIV and AIDS Fund, to provide for the management of the Fund, to prevent and control the HIV and AIDS epidemic, to promote and protect the rights of persons living with HIV or AIDS and to provide for related purposes.

The purpose of the law is to determine the fundamental principles of the control of HIV and AIDS in Niger.

This Act repeals and replaces the Public Health Act (Cap 198). The Act provides the legal framework for the protection and improvement of public health, regulates issues such as sanitation, disease control, environmental health and health care services.

The purpose of this Act is to determine the fundamental principles relating to the protection of the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS and of persons affected.

This Act provides for prevention, treatment, care, support, and control of HIV and AIDS, for promotion of public health in relation to HIV and AIDS; provides for appropriate treatment, care and support using available resources to people living with or at risk of HIV and AIDS and provides for related matters.

The law makes rules on HIV/AIDS Prevention, Treatment and Control.

This Act provides measures for the prevention, management and control of HIV and AIDS, provides for the protection and promotion of public health and the appropriate treatment, counselling, support and care of persons infected or at risk of HIV and AIDS infection, and connected purposes.

The purpose of this law is to combat the spread of the disease caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) leading to the reduction and loss of the body's immune defenses, resulting in Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS); to protect people living with HIV/AIDS against all forms of discrimination or stigmatization; and to reaffirm their fundamental rights and freedoms in accordance with international human rights instruments.

The purpose of this Law is to create a legal framework that allows for the implementation of the actions and mechanisms necessary for the education, prevention, treatment, epidemiological surveillance, research, care and monitoring of sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS, as well as to guarantee respect, protection and defence of human rights, and to eliminate the stigmatization and discrimination of people infected with HIV/AIDS. The Proclamation regulates different aspects of Public Health such as food quality control and standards (Articles 8 and 9); water quality control (Article 10); occupational health (Article 11), waste handling and disposal (Article 12); availability of toilet facilities in health institutions (Article 13); control of bathing places and pools (Article 14); disposal of dead bodies (art.15); control at entrance and exit ports in Ethiopia making mandatory vaccines for people coming from outside (Article 16); and Communicable Diseases (art.17).

The Code provides rules regarding different rears of public health as the prevention and control of communicable diseases; sanitation and housing; and food and water protection among other aspects.

This Law provides a framework to govern public health in Liberia by focusing on the control of acute communicable diseases and conditions, environmental sanitation, health standards of public and private institutions, regulation of drugs, disposal of human remains, as well as regulation and supervision of medical and allied health professions.

This Act makes provisions for public health and connected matters. This includes, among others, providing rules to address communicable diseases and nuisances (e.g. unsuitable dwellings).
