The objective of this law is to provide the rules relating to public hygiene and sanitation in rural and urban areas.

The purpose of this Law is to establish mechanisms for the protection and promotion of health, the prevention and control of diseases, as well as threats and risks to public health.

The law determines the essential rules relating to public health and hygiene in the Republic of Niger. The law contains articles referring to the fundamental principles of health in Niger, such as the functioning of the national health system, or health information; as well as the fundamental principles of hygiene, such as urban health and food safety.

This law determines the general conditions of asylum in the Republic of Chad in accordance with the Convention relating to the Status of Refugees of July 28, 1951 as amended by its New York Protocol of January 31 and the Convention of the Organization of the African Unity of September 10, 1969 governing aspects specific to refugee problems in Africa.

This law, taken in application of the provisions of article 47 of the Constitution, establishes the modalities of medical care for the mentally ill and protection of their rights in the Gabonese Republic.

This Law governs refugees and asylum seekers in Rwanda.

Mental Health Act, 2012 Act 846

The Mental Health Act of 2012 provides for mental health care and for related matters. Among other things, it establishes a Mental Health Authority (sections 1 to 23), enshrines a set of rights for persons with mental disorder (sections 54 to 63), and establishes a mental health fund (sections 80 to 87).

This Decree defines the attributions, the organization and the functioning of the Public Hygiene Police of Mauritania.

This Law defines the rules of public health and hygiene in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, in particular on public spaces, homes, food and non-food products, water, commercial facilities and industries, educational and health establishments, public buildings, and the natural environment. Its main objective is to preserve and promote public health.

The Law defines the status of refugees in Burkina Faso. 

The Mental Health Act

The Act provides for the care, protection and management of persons with mental disorders and provides for their voluntary or involuntary admission in mental health care facility and other related matters.

The decree covers the powers, organization and operation of the Public Hygiene Police.

Loi n° 022-2005/AN portant code de l’hygiène publique

This law governs public hygiene in Burkina Faso, in particular hygiene on public roads and squares, the hygiene of swimming pools and bathing areas, homes, food products, water, industrial and commercial facilities, schools, pre-schools and health establishments, public buildings and the natural environment, and noise control. Its main objective is to preserve and promote public health.

Loi No 021/2002 portant statut des refugies en République Démocratique du Congo

This Law establishes provisions on the status of refugees and related matters in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

This Ministerial Order establishes a national mental health program. The mission of the national mental health program is to promote mental health at all levels of the national health system.

Mental Health Care Act

This Act provides a legal framework for the care, treatment, and protection of individuals with mental health disorders, establishes guidelines for the admission, detention, and rights of patients in mental health facilities, etc.

Refugees Act No 130 of 1998

This Act gives effect within the Republic of South Africa to the relevant international legal instruments, principles and standards relating to refugees; provides for the reception into South Africa of asylum seekers; regulates applications for and recognition of refugee status; provides for the rights and obligations flowing from such status; and provides for matters connected therewith.

The Refugees Act

This Act makes provisions for the Enactment of the Refugees Act, National Eligibility Committee, Asylum seeker and Refugee administration and repeals the Refugee (Control) Act and provides for connected matters.

The law regulates the refugee status. Its definition, the impediment and loss of refugee status, the authorization requirements among others issues.

The General Health Regulations set out comprehensive guidelines and standards for public health and hygiene, including the control of communicable diseases, sanitation, food safety, and environmental health.
