Health Legislation

The law defines the legal framework for the prevention and comprehensive care of the human immunodeficiency virus and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS). The law includes the rights and obligations of people living with HIV as well as the prevention and prohibition of discriminatory practices. The law includes as well the treatments in the health system in Cabo Verde among other issues.

This law, taken in application of the provisions of Article 52 of the Constitution and those of Law No. 21/2020 of June 30, 2020 authorizing the President of the Republic to legislate by ordinances during the parliamentary intersession, ratifies Ordinance No. 0009/PR/2020 of August 14, 2020 establishing the creation, attributions and organization of the National Order of Midwives of Gabon.

This Act makes provision for the prevention and management of HIV and AIDS; provides for the rights and obligations of persons living with HIV or affected by HIV and AIDS; provides for the establishment of the National AIDS Commission; and provides for matters incidental thereto or connected therewith.

The Law creates a professional order called the "Ordre national des sages- femmes/maïeuticiens de Guinée", which groups together all midwives/maïeuticians required to practice in Guinea.

The law creates the "Ordre des Infirmières et Infirmiers" (The Order of Nurses), which is responsible for organizing and representing individuals and legal entities practicing nursing in Mali.

The law created the Order of Midwives (the Order of Midwives), which is responsible for organizing and representing individuals and legal entities practicing the profession of midwifery in Mali.

The Ghana AIDS Commission Act, 2016 is to establish the Ghana AIDS commission and the National HIV and AIDS Fund, to provide for the management of the Fund, to prevent and control the HIV and AIDS epidemic, to promote and protect the rights of persons living with HIV or AIDS and to provide for related purposes.

The Law establishes the Order of Nurses of Mozambique and approves its Statute. The Order of Nurses of Mozambique is a legal person governed by public law, representing nurses, and carrying out services in the public interest. Registration and recognition by the Order of Nurses are mandatory conditions for the exercise of nursing activity in Mozambique.

The purpose of the law is to determine the fundamental principles of the control of HIV and AIDS in Niger.

This law makes the second amendment to the Statute of the Order of Nurses, approved by Decree-Law No. 104/98, of April 21, amended by Law No. 111/2009, of September 16, in order to adapt it to Law No. 2/2013, of January 10, which establishes the legal regime for the creation, organization and operation of professional public associations.

This Act makes provisions for the protection, promotion and preservation of public health, safety and welfare through regulation and control of nursing and midwifery education and practice.

The purpose of this Act is to determine the fundamental principles relating to the protection of the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS and of persons affected.

This Law establishes the National Council of Nurses and Midwives and determines its organisation, functioning and competence.

This Act provides for prevention, treatment, care, support, and control of HIV and AIDS, for promotion of public health in relation to HIV and AIDS; provides for appropriate treatment, care and support using available resources to people living with or at risk of HIV and AIDS and provides for related matters.

The law makes rules on HIV/AIDS Prevention, Treatment and Control.

This Act provides measures for the prevention, management and control of HIV and AIDS, provides for the protection and promotion of public health and the appropriate treatment, counselling, support and care of persons infected or at risk of HIV and AIDS infection, and connected purposes.

The purpose of this law is to combat the spread of the disease caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) leading to the reduction and loss of the body's immune defenses, resulting in Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS); to protect people living with HIV/AIDS against all forms of discrimination or stigmatization; and to reaffirm their fundamental rights and freedoms in accordance with international human rights instruments.

The purpose of this Law is to create a legal framework that allows for the implementation of the actions and mechanisms necessary for the education, prevention, treatment, epidemiological surveillance, research, care and monitoring of sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS, as well as to guarantee respect, protection and defence of human rights, and to eliminate the stigmatization and discrimination of people infected with HIV/AIDS. This Act provides for the establishment and constitution of a professional Council for the nursing and midwifery or accoucheury professions; determines the powers, duties and functions of such Council; regulates the registration and enrolment of the members of such professions; specifies the education, training and qualifications of persons practising such professions; prohibits the practising of any such profession without being registered; and provides for matters incidental thereto.

This Act establishes the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria for the registration of nurses and midwives and State Nursing and Midwifery Committees, and provides for the discipline of nurses and midwives and other ancillary matters.
