The Knowledge Hub’s fifth and last webinar of the series on 5 December covered the topic of preventing tobacco industry interference in monitoring and research, bringing together Article 5.3. and Article 20 of the WHO FCTC. The recordings of the presentations of the fifth webinar are now available on our website’s webinar presentation section.

In the first presentation of the webinar, Atty. Deborah Sy (Global Center for Good Governance in Tobacco Control, GGTC) gave a presentation of monitoring and research on tobacco industry interference. In the second part, Dr. Heikki Hiilamo (University of Helsinki) talked about tracking tobacco industry attempts to influence scientific record and introduces evidence from research relating to FCTC demand reduction measures.

The presentation and slides of Dr. Hiilamo can be viewed directly on our website. Atty. Deborah Sy’s presentation is exceptionally available only upon request through this link. A link to the presentation can be received by filling in “TI Webinar” in the subject line of the contact form.

The fifth webinar finished the Knowledge Hub’s webinar series taking place in autumn 2018. The theme of the series was supporting low and middle income countries in the establishment of tobacco surveillance systems in line with the Article 20.

See the webinar program to find out more about the previous webinars of the series. All recordings will remain on our website for viewing and further use.
