On September 22-23, 2016, Stockholm (Sweden) hosted seminar “Tobacco Endgame – Swedish Style”, which addressed policies and strategies of different countries to reduce tobacco use. Reaching certain targets, in addition to evidence-supported and effective interventions, also require a set of indicators and a reliable and prompt monitoring system. This issue was raised in the presentation by Dr. Antero Heloma, Head of the Tobacco, Gambling and Addiction Unit at the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and Manager of the WHO FCTC Knowledge Hub on Surveillance. The event was arranged by the Swedish Society of Medicine and supported by the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation.
