Who we are

The Center for Studies on Tobacco or Health (CETAB) is housed at the Sergio Arouca National Public Health School (ENSP), part of the prestigious Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ).

CETAB was established in 2012 as part of FIOCRUZ´s response to Brazil’s noncommunicable diseases growing concerns and has since then participated as a partner in the implementation of the WHO FCTC in international initiatives to curb the tobacco epidemic. One of its known areas of work is the Observatory to monitor the tobacco industry's strategies, the Brazilian Observatory in partnership with the Convention Secretariat.

Brazil renders strong and long-standing support to the implementation of the WHO FCTC. Brazil ratified the Convention in 2005 and acceded to the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products in 2018.
