National Identity Cards (Amendment) Act, 2022

The Act amended the National Identity Cards Act, 2011.

National Health Act

This Act provides a framework for a structured uniform health system within Namibia; consolidates the laws relating to state hospitals and state health services, and regulates the conduct of state hospitals and state health services; provides for financial assistance for special medical treatment of State patients; and provides for incidental matters.

Insurance Act 2014

The Act makes provision regarding the Insurance sector, with the aim of consolidation, administration, supervision, regulation, control, protection and development of insurance business, and for incidental matters.

Children's Protection and Welfare Act 2011

This act has the aim to consolidate and reform the laws relating to the protection and welfare of children and to provide for incidental matters. The Act covers aspects such as the rights of a child and the responsibilities of its parents; the child in need of care and protection; the offences to health and welfare of children; the conditions to take a child into care and for adoption; trafficking of children; child rehabilitation and conflict with criminal law; police powers and duties regarding children and legislation regarding minor’s criminal law.

National Identity Cards Act 2011

The Act mandates the establishment of a National Identity Register, the issuance of national identity cards to persons whose are included in the national identity register and for related matters.

Data Protection Act 2011 (Act No 5 of 2012)

The Act establishes the Data Protection Commission, provide for principles for regulation of processing of personal information in order to protect and reconcile the fundamental and competing values of personal information privacy under this Act and sector-specific legislation and other related matters.

This Act amends the Medicines and Related Substances Control Act, 2003, so as to amend and delete certain definitions; provides for a period within which the Council must be appointed; provides for the appointment of chairpersons of committees established by the Council; amends provisions relating to the classification of medicines and other substances as scheduled substances; amends provisions relating to the manufacturing, packing and selling of specified Schedule 3 and specified Schedule 4 substances; deletes references to generic substitutions; substitutes references to Schedule 1, Schedule 2, Schedule 3 or Schedule 4 medicines by references to Schedule 1, Schedule 2, Schedule 3 or Schedule 4 substances; inserts provisions relating to the registration of premises engaged in the manufacturing of medicines; amends provisions relating to offences and penalties; amends provisions relating to the destruction of forfeited medicines, scheduled substances or other things; provides for the making of regulations in relation to medicines; amends provisions relating to the exclusion of medicines from the operation of the Act; amends the transitional provisions; amends provisions relating to the repeal and amendment of certain laws; and provides for matters incidental thereto.

Medical and Dental Act

This Act provides for the establishment and constitution of a professional Council for the medical and dental professions; determines the powers, duties and functions of such Council; regulates the registration of medical practitioners and of dentists, and of persons practising certain professions allied to the medical profession or to the dental profession; specifies the education, training and qualifications of persons practising such professions; prohibits the practising of any such profession without being registered; and provides for matters incidental thereto.

Nursing Act

This Act provides for the establishment and constitution of a professional Council for the nursing and midwifery or accoucheury professions; determines the powers, duties and functions of such Council; regulates the registration and enrolment of the members of such professions; specifies the education, training and qualifications of persons practising such professions; prohibits the practising of any such profession without being registered; and provides for matters incidental thereto.

Pharmacy Act

This Act provides for the establishment and constitution of a professional Council for the pharmacy profession; determines the powers, duties and functions of such Council; regulates the registration of pharmacists and persons practising professions allied to the pharmacy profession; specifies the education and training and qualifications of persons practising such professions; prohibits the practising of any such profession without being registered; and provides for matters incidental thereto.

Medicines and Related Substance Control Act

This Act provides for the establishment of a Namibia Medicines Regulatory Council; for the registration of medicines intended for human and for animal use; for the control of medicines and scheduled substances and provides for incidental matters.

Nurses and Midwives Act 1997 (Act No 12 of 1998)

The Act establishes the Lesotho Nursing Council, and makes provisions with respect to the education and training, registration, the practice of nursing and midwifery, regulation of professional conduct of nurses and midwives and for related matters.

Disaster Management Act 1997

The Act is to establish the Disaster Management Authority; to regulate its powers and functions and to make provision with respect to emergencies arising out of disasters including prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery measures for the protection of life and property from the effects of disasters.

Identification Act

This Act provides for the compilation and maintenance of a population register in respect of the population of Namibia, for the issue of identity documents to persons whose names are included in the population register; and for the matters connected therewith.

This Act extends membership of the medical aid scheme established for the public service under the Public Service Act, 1980, to members and former members of the National Assembly, judges and former judges of the Supreme Court and High Court, certain other office-bearers and other persons and to their surviving spouses; repeals section 1 of the Medical Aid Scheme for the Government Service Extension Act, 1982; and provides for matters connected therewith.

International Health Regulations Act

This Act applies the International Health Regulations, adopted by the World Health Assembly, in the Republic, and provides for incidental matters.

The Registration of Births and deaths Act 1973

The Act consolidates the laws relating to the registration of births and deaths in Lesotho. It makes compulsory the registration of the birth of a child, whether born alive or still-born, and of the death of any person dying after the commencement of the Act (section 3). The office of the Registrar General is the general register office for keeping the register of all births and deaths occurring in Lesotho (section 4).

Lesotho Citizenship Order 1971

The Order makes provision for citizenship of Lesotho, for the acquisition, deprivation and renunciation of citizenship, and for related and connected matters.

Public Health Order 1970

The Order provides rules regarding diseases subject to the international Health Regulation, the prevention and control of communicable diseases; sanitation and housing; and food and water protection among other aspects.

The Medical , Dental and Pharmacy Order 1970

The order mandates the creation of a medical, Dental and Pharmacy Council; and regulates the keeping and sale of poisons and other related matters.
